Being a successful global company today means often having to deal with opportunities in the form of acquisitions or divestitures. On the acquisition side, the process is made more complicated from a purchasing and maintenance management point of view as your systems must take on the new operation, with all of its people, processes, assets, accounts, and purchases.
A common complicating factor is that the organization you acquire usually does not comply fully with your own data standards: they may even be on a completely different ERP or purchasing system. This means that many mining and other large corporates find it useful today to have tools at their disposal to enable and speed up the time to implement their systems and data standards. Automatically mapping and accelerating the data conversion job in multiple languages, Refresh Desktop is such an accelerator.
In the case of this Finnish mine, they already had a sister company running Refresh for Maximo who proposed Refresh Desktop as the tool for data conversion. In this phase, the software will generate harmonized descriptions with engineering quality translation in English and Finnish for 15 000 MRO items, as well as consistent tax accounts, spend classes and commodity codes. The new items will also be clash-analyzed amongst themselves and with the master file to show duplicates for quick wins on stock levels, working capital and vendor price parity.
