Headquartered in Finland, with operations spread out over most countries in Europe, this leader in the global bio-economy has traditionally been consistently profitable leveraging an impressive and complex portfolio of assets and equipment in 11 languages and multiple ERP systems.
As part of a global initiative in process and system standardization, legacy procurement and maintenance systems are to be migrated to SAP in a large and complex roll-out which will cover many countries and businesses. Some 300 000 materials, the majority of which are parts, equipment and consumables will be migrated at these sites to a global SAP system over the next 4 years. Of course, there exists today some level of duplication as well as renaming and classification opportunity for both Purchasing and Maintenance that historically had not been easy to fix without a material cleansing and governance software utility like Refresh.
Refresh software was selected from a wide range of software and consulting suppliers after the conclusion of a year-long competitive RFP process during 2021. After live demonstrations in the automation of de-duplication and classification of spare parts and equipment (in real data situations), Refresh Desktop and Refresh Server were favored over the other solutions for this project – effectively the depth and breadth of functionality already built in to the standard off the shelf Refresh software was hard to match.
So far, the project is going well with data cleansing in Refresh Desktop being prioritized for Q1 2022 which should present good quick win savings during the year as the plants go live with the new system, delivering the right data at the lowest effort needed to drive lean working capital, optimized procurement and safe maintenance processes going forward.
